I saw the video about the steal issue about this game on YouTube. I feel sorry for you. But there is something botherinf me, how was it stolen? Did you open-source the full game? Did someone else had access on the project? Or was it a hacker that extracted the game from itch?

It was simply just downloaded from itch and decompiled with GDRETools, than rebuilt for iOS. 5 minutes of work.

Hi VoltekPlay,

I’d love to run a small 5-player playtest for Diapers in partnership with GameUserResearch, gathering real gameplay data and feedback for free. If you're interested, where’s the best place to DM you for more details?

X Account: Kirby_life

-Max Kirby

Hi, thanks for the offer, but we actually have gathered enough feedback from text reviews and letsplays so far, so it won't be very useful at this point. We already working on the version for next playtest.

You can DM me in the twitter, @VoltekPlay, if you want.

no worries, thank you for the honesty.
Your DMs are private on twitter but I have followed you
best of luck for the future!

I adjusted DM settings in twitter, thanks for letting me know. Best of luck!

Sorry to hear that, please try Google Chrome browser.

good game 4/5 for sure not bad

(+1)

I love the fact that there is a resistance to the Ministry; hinting that they're bad ppl

(+1)

this game is sick!! reminded me so much of not my neighbour!!!

(+1)

This was such a fun game to play! The different things you had to pay attention to kept the game interesting. Loved the story behind the game!

(1 edit) (+5)

Fun game! I would love to see it fleshed out into something more complex! One criticism I have is that its hrd for me to distinguish between light brown and dark brown hair, but I think thats just a skill issue.

(+1)

Thanks, we already working on the big game and launched a Steam page. We'll take your note about colors into account!

(+4)

This was fun!!! It is a little too easy since you can mostly just look at hair and blood-type. However, the difficulty might be just right for a simple, fun gaming session. One doesn't need to be a hardcore gamer to enjoy this.

(+1)

Cool game! :)

(+1)

Interesting game.

(+1)

super cute game; the mystery aspect was fun!

(+2)

Sadly froze after clicking the first start button on firefox, but worked on Chrome. Thanks for making!

(+1)

This is pretty cool. I love the mystery and the ideals of the dangers of eugenics

(+1)

Great Idea, Love it!

This game was so fun! I like how it is similar to papers, please! I wish it was a bit harder but overall great game!

Thanks for playing!

(+3)

I liked it, I like how the difficulty progresses and I'm giving the children to the revolution but I regretted it very soon after 😔

pretty good but it keeps crashing on my end and I've tried everything and my internet is good

I'm sorry for that, what device and browser do you use? If you can, please play in Google Chrome.

oh it's all good I'm on a MacBook with safari so that's prob the problem

(+3)

i like the game! Although, it's hard knowing what exactly tall and big means bc I don't know what measurements constitutes a baby to be smaller than average. Additionally, can there be an option for us American folks? It would be wonderful if there was an option for inches/ft & lbs.

(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, suggestion about customary units is noted and will be implemented!

do you think more storyline will ever take place? like the letters changing based off if you follow the blue or red letters?

(+1)

We have a large non-linear plot in the plans, and a game of 3 phases (the current choice of children + 2 more), so yes!

(+1)

I started playing it and... I give the kids to the revolution but I feel like something is wrong😭... but it's a great game❤❤

(1 edit)

ok I have not played this game yet so I don't know how the genetics work in the game but there are resscive genes that could affect it just played it a bit its weird you assume big parents big baby also great game

yeah but also if your struggling, blood type, skin color and eye color helps really well, eye color brown always dominates but there's a high chance it would be different

how to check blood type?

its later on in the game

(+4)

Everything here is solid. I would love to see this the setting and story fleshed out if you decide to make a full release.

The one thing that seemed weird was the baby names. Shouldn't the parents know their baby's name? (Assuming they named them.) And wouldn't the baby names be unknown to the state? (If records were destroyed.)

(+1)

We didn't even think about it, but this is an important point, we will try to remove this discrepancy in further development.

Some compliments and critiques:

  • The idea of matching babies to kids is an interesting twist on Papers, Please! and can really be taken into interesting directions--the genetics described aren't accurate to real life already (e.g. 50% on skintone and hair), so you could add some fantasy/biopunk stuff if you decided to expand on the concept.
  • I love the extra creepy factor about placing children with parents. There's some reeeeeeally fun and messed up story stuff you can go with there if you develop this.
  • I dislike the "light the baby you want to select" mechanic. I have a hard time matching skin tones when vastly different light levels are used. It's also harder to scan eye colors between babies and parents to compare them--even if something is obviously blue or green or brown, there's a recognition lag as the brain compares objects with different lighting.
  • The order of genetic info you get has issues. Once I got bloodtype, I used it to select babies almost exclusively, because there's no 50/50 stuff like with hair and skin color.
  • "Weight" and "height" feel kinda tacked on. I don't know normal baby weights and heights off hand, so if I want to use them, I have to compare them to all other babies to see if they're significantly different. It doesn't help that average heights and weights vary by country, so I don't know what constitutes tall or heavy for parents by the game's standard.

Thank you for that review! Biopunk additions is very great suggestion, and it can fir out fictional dystopian world. thanks for the criticism, everything is on point and will be taken into account in further development.

i think i found a bug. i was playing story mode and accidentally hit 'back to menu.' i didn't see a continue button so i just hit story mode again, kind of upset that i had to completely restart. much to my surprise, i didn't have to restart! but i also didn't get to play that day, i went up a day. i found that strange so i did it again, hit 'back to menu' then back into story mode. i went up a day again! i decided to see how far i could take it and i finished story mode without playing! i may have gotten fired but it was for science lmao

There is now save games in current version, I can't upload bugfixes until Jam voting will end, so this bug will remain in the game for 2 more days. Anyway, thanks for reporting!

(+1)

great game, did not miss any :DDD

Congratulations, your game got stolen.

I know, sad story.

I thought of an idea about this…

How about putting a message somewhere in the game saying, something like,

“Please note: this game is not available on the App Store or Google Play as a mobile app. If you see it there, it is PIRATED and I would like your help to report it to them.”

So if the code and assets are copy-pasted, this message would show up and expose the app uploaded as a thief.

(+4)(-1)

I can't update game build until jam voting end. I already prepared new one with bug fixes and secutiry measures, but I can only upload it on sunday after jam voting end.

IM BEING WATCHED?!

I DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS THAT ILLGEAL!

I THOUGHT IT WAS ALMOST LEGALLLLLLLLLL!

(+3)

Love the level of pressure, although I did end up disregarding most clue types for the easiest to identify later on. It just goes so much faster if you dont bother to check the blood type on kids whose eye colors dont match. I never had to use baby size as a clue in story mode, what would the transition points for large and small parents or babies be?

Thanks for playing, baby weight and size has relation to parents, but its not a strong clue. We also wanted to make parents and babies to have different size based on that parameteres, but we didn't have enough time to implement it. But we will do it in the full game version.

(+1)

It sadly lags a lot in my browser to play properly, but I love the concept and the little I played was quite fun! If in the future you make a downloadable version maybe I'll give it another try :3

Thanks for giving it a try, I removed downloadable version because of all that story with App Store thief.

I saw! That's infuriating, I hope they get removed from the app store

(+1)

I only missed once, and I hate it.
It wasn't even on the hardest wave(s)

(+1)

this game is GREAT loved it, 10/10

(+1)

Excellent game! 10/9. This is not a jam game; it has the potential to be perfect.

(+6)

very fun game! hope you guys are able to get justice with the app store copycat

(+1)

hopefully

(+2)

Thanks, still no luck with that, Apple said that we need to contact thief by ourselfs.

(+1)

timothytomato I think the App Store copycat game is gone now. 🙂

(+2)

Super fun game! Great work!!

(+3)

Very fun game. Well done. Art is gorgeous. Concept is fun.

(+1)

The game won't load on my browser :/ I press on the "story mode" button and then the screen goes down under the table and I'm stuck

I'm sorry to hear that, what browser and device you use? Try to play in Google Chrome, if possible.

I played on Firefox on MacOS

same issue here, same browser and os
